Dipstick urinalysis is a simple and easy screening tool for genitourinary and other disorders. It is part of routine medical examination. It requires a urine sample, into which a stick impregnated with various enzymes to detect different things is dipped. It takes a few minutes to do a dipstick urinalysis. This test helps screen for and diagnosis conditions pertaining to the genitourinary tract, such as urinary tract infections and kidney disorders, but is also useful in the detection of liver problems, problems in pregnancy and diabetes.
This test is performed in following conditions such as:
• Abdominal pain
• Back pain
• Painful or frequent urination
• Blood in the urine
• During pregnancy
• As part of routine medical examination
