Trichomonas (Female)
$111
Trichomonas Vaginalis is a parasite which causes infections of the genitourinary system in both men and women and is considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD). In women, it can cause infections inside the vagina and urethra. It is important to get tested for this because 30% of people infected do not show any symptoms. This test involves taking a sample of urine or secretions from inside the penis. The urine sample is more favorable, because the secretion sample involves pushing a swab inside the urethra and can be painful. The sample is checked for the presence of the parasite to make a positive diagnosis.
This test is performed in following conditions such as:
• Foul-smelling discharge
• Frequent urge to urinate
• Itching of inner thighs
• Discomfort during intercourse
• Burning after urinating or ejaculating
Also Known As: Trich, Trichomoniasis
Requirements
The client should not have urinated for at least one hour prior to specimen collection. Please to provide a first-catch urine (approximately 20-30 mL of the initial urine stream) into a urine collection cup free of any preservatives. Collection of larger volumes of urine may result in specimen dilution that may reduce test sensitivity. NOTE: THIS TEST IS FOR FEMALES ONLY
