Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a virus that is responsible for the disease mononucleosis. EBV Nuclear Antigen antibody only occurs in the blood once the initial infection has been resolved.
Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a virus that is responsible for the disease mononucleosis. It causes mild to moderate infection and is quite common amongst the adult population. Most people do not experience symptoms, but in some instances can get very ill. There are different tests which can be performed for the detection of EBV. EBV Nuclear Antigen antibody only occurs in the blood once the initial infection has been resolved. It only starts being produced at around 2 to 4 months after initial infection and is present for life. This test, along with IgG test is a good measure for immunity against EBV.
