Cortisol, Saliva
$139
This test uses a saliva sample to measure a person’s Cortisol level. Saliva testing can provide just as accurate a measurement of adrenal hormones like Cortisol as a blood test can. Cortisol testing is usually ordered to aid in the diagnosis of conditions related to the adrenal and pituitary glands such as Addison’s Disease, Cushing’s Syndrome, Adrenocortical Insufficiency or Hypersecretion.
Cortisol is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Proper Cortisol levels are important for helping the body to maintain a number of functions such as blood pressure, glucose levels, immune response, and stress management.
Cortisol saliva testing allows a person to make a collection at any time of day without having to be at a lab. This method also allows people to make a collection during times when they are experiencing symptoms which may be related to irregular Cortisol production such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and insomnia.
Turnaround for this test is typically 5-8 business days.
