This test is useful to monitor exposure to chromium, progress of medical treatment or determine nutritional status.

Chromium is a naturally occurring element which is considered a mineral. Small amounts of chromium in the body contribute to normal cellular formation, but in high amounts it can be detrimental, causing kidney and liver damage. The most common method of exposure to chromium is through inhalation. This test measures the amount of chromium in the blood plasma in order to diagnose toxicity. Deficiency in chromium is rare since it is well supplemented in the diet and environment, therefore, this test is reserved for those exhibiting signs and symptoms of chromium toxicity.

• Allergic and irritant dermatitis
• Skin ulcers,
• Respiratory irritation, bronchitis, asthma
