Basic Metabolic Panel

This basic metabolic panel test includes BUN/Creatinine Ratio (calculated), Calcium, Carbon Dioxide, Chloride, Creatinine with GFR Estimated, Glucose, Potassium, Sodium, Urea Nitrogen (BUN). This blood test measures important parameters like sugar (glucose) level, electrolyte and fluid balance and kidney function.

Also Known As: BMP, Basic Chem Panel

Quest Diagnostics Basic Metabolic Test Code: 10165

The Basic Metabolic Panel includes all relevant parameters of overall metabolic health. By measuring BUN/Creatinine Ratio, Creatinine with GFR and electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney function is assessed. By getting the results of electrolyte balance in the body, cardiac, bone and muscle health is estimated, and by measuring blood sugar level, we determine whether or not a patient has diabetes or some other metabolic disorder that involves glucose metabolism.

This test is performed in following conditions such as:
• Suspicion of diabetes
• Renal function impairment
• Assessment of cardiovascular health
• Suspicion of different hormonal disorders
• Yearly check up

The Basic Metabolic Panel requires fasting for 9 - 12 hours prior to going in for blood collection.
